Eligibility criteria
Full Membership
Open to representatives of companies whose vessels are licensed by the Fiji Offshore Fisheries Management Decree to fish in Fiji’s fisheries waters. Eligible applicants must:
- Hold a valid Fiji EEZ fishing licence for each vessel they represent.
- Be formally appointed by their company to act on its behalf.
- Provide a Chartered Accountant’s certificate (Fiji-registered certificate of public practice) confirming that the company:
- “Owns and controls” the licensed vessels, and
- “Assumes the financial risks” associated with them.
Associate Membership
Open to representatives of companies whose vessels are authorised under the Offshore Fisheries Management Decree to fish on the high seas. Eligible applicants must:
- Hold valid high-seas fishing authorisations for each vessel they represent.
- Be formally appointed by their company to act on its behalf.
- Provide a Chartered Accountant’s certificate (Fiji-registered certificate of public practice) confirming that the company:
- “Owns and controls” the authorised vessels, and
- “Assumes the financial risks” associated with them.
Note:
- Vessel-ownership certificates must be issued by a Fiji-based chartered accountant.
- Once eligible, members appear on the FFIA registry maintained by the General Secretary.
- All memberships renew annually in line with licence validity.
