FFIA Overview
The Fiji Fishing Industry Association (FFIA) is the representative body for Fiji’s licensed tuna longline fishing vessel operators. Established in 2016 through the merger of the Tuna Boat Owners Association (TBOA) and the Fiji Offshore Fisheries Association (FOFA), FFIA was formed to unify the industry’s voice and address shared challenges through coordinated action. The Association is registered with the Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Workplace Relations and is governed by an elected Executive Council.


Our Purpose
The Association exists to unite, represent, and empower the tuna fishing sector in Fiji.
We work to promote a sustainable, economically viable, and socially responsible industry that supports national development and a sustainable, managed ocean environment.
Strategic Objectives of FFIA
- To secure the complete organisation of the Association;
- To promote, protect and maintain just and proper treatment of members in all aspects;
- To represent the interest of the members to the Fiji Government;
- To work with Fiji government agencies in the promotion, development, and management of Fiji’s offshore fisheries.
- To represent the interests of Fiji offshore fishing companies on Fiji delegations to regional and international negotiations dealing with offshore fishery resources.
- To nominate the industry representatives to the Offshore Fisheries Advisory Council, in accordance with the Offshore Fisheries Management Decree 2012.
- To do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
